OUR HERITAGE — ROOTED IN AFRICA
At the southern tip of Africa lies a land unlike any other.
South Africa is part of the ancient landscape where the story of humankind reaches back through the ages — a country of extraordinary beauty, deep history and remarkable human diversity.
We are a nation shaped by many peoples, languages, traditions and beliefs. Our stories may be different, our songs may sound different, and the paths that brought us here may not be the same — yet we share one soil, beneath one African sun.
Perhaps that is what makes South Africa our own Garden of Eden.
A garden is not beautiful because every flower is the same. Its beauty comes from its diversity. Every colour, every shape and every fragrance has its place.
And no flower stands entirely alone.
It needs the earth beneath it, the rain from above and the warmth of the sun. It needs the honeybee to carry life from one flower to another. It needs the smallest creatures, each playing their part in keeping the garden alive.
So it is with our people.
Every culture adds its own colour. Every language carries its own story. Every tradition adds another thread to the fabric of who we are.
Our heritage is not one story.
It is thousands of stories growing from the same African soil
